Silk Ribbon Embroidery

Workshop supply list

“I will be presenting a selection of various materials, uses and designs for Silk Ribbon Embroidery. The participants will be able to try out a selection of stitches on a sample piece of fabric during the program.

I will be bringing squares of a home-decorating weight fabric and some lengths of ribbon for the class members to practice some of the stitches.

They should bring the “usual stitching tools and/or supplies”…

Scissors for cutting thread and ribbon

A hoop in the 5” to 7” range…it can be wrapped or un-wrapped, depending on the stitcher’s preference.

Large-eye needles. Crewel and embroidery needles come in packets of various sizes. (3-9 or 5-10, we will be using the larger ones.

Small amounts of silk ribbon. Remnants from previous projects are fine, as long as they are pressed and ready to stitch. One or two yards of various widths, especially 3.5 mm, 4mm, and 7mm should be sufficient.

While this is not a finely-worked technique, some participants may want to bring additional lighting. “
